In its hey day Turner Brothers Asbestos (TBA) was the largest asbestos factory in the world which employed thousands of Rochdalians.
Nationally the Conservatives were reduced to just 121 seats with no MP's in Greater Manchester, just 50 seats ahead of the Liberal Democrats.
The election also saw an increase in the number of minor parties represented in the House of Commons (13) and the number of MP’s elected as Independents (15).
Here in Greater Manchester the Liberal Democrats gained two seats and the Conservatives lost all their seats, making the Liberal Democrats the second party at the Parliamentary level for the first time since our foundation in 1988.
A year on and in the last couple of weeks the Liberal Democrats here in Greater Manchester overtook the Conservatives as the second party in Local Government.
Sadly, a year on, it is becoming clear that Labour are just making things worse as they take from the poorest to prop up an economy that serves the rich. From the cuts to winter fuel allowance, to the treatment of WASPI women; from the cuts to PIP’s to the failure to get sewage out of our rivers, Labour is letting us down.
Here in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale the Liberal Democrats are providing real opposition to this Labour Council.
Nationally, whilst Labour are cutting services and support for the poorest in our society, it is the Liberal Democrats are calling for big banks, social media companies, energy companies, and gambling giants to pay their fair share, to help fund public services and support those in need.
Last July this country called for change, and whilst Labour continue with the same failed policies of the past, only the Liberal Democrats offer the sensible change that we need!

Amongst the many scandals facing our NHS is the ongoing failure to provide a fully functioning maternity ward at Rochale Infirmary, so that Rochdale’s children can be born in Rochdale.
Since the last Labour Government downgraded Rochdale Infirmary shutting the Maternity Unit and closing A&E, Rochdale has been without local maternity services.

Residents of Healey and Shawclough are growing increasingly frustrated with Rochdale Council over the unresolved planning enforcement issues concerning "It’s All In The Image Ltd."
Residents living near Its All in The Image continue to suffer from repeated breaches of planning conditions with HGV’s arriving at 6.30am disturbing local residents.
