Cllr Andy Kelly was first elected to Council in 2010 as Councillor for Milnrow and Newhey and became Lib Dem Group leader in 2012. He has built a solid reputation for delivering on case work, advocating for local people, and challenging Labour and the Conservatives on Rochdale Council. A qualified senior youth worker by trade, Andy Kelly currently works in public affairs for a national funder.
Cllr Andy Kelly and the Lib Dem team work hard to keep in touch with residents through Focus leaflets, social media and regular surgeries, helping hundreds if not thousands of residents to get the services they rightly deserve.
Everyone knows that Council services have been cut to the bone across the country, but the Labour Party’s track record in Milnrow and Newhey is atrocious- ignoring residents views on planning, building inappropriate housing in the greenbelt and even threatening to withhold funding to the ward if elections didn’t go their way! We need an effective opposition to Labour in Rochdale.
We have also had significant impact in the Council chamber moving motions to declare a climate change emergency, creating safer streets for women and girls and pressing for a better code of conduct for elected members.
We have achieved so much over the past few years, but we have so much more we want to do. Help us to keep up the good work.Councillor Andy Kelly, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Rochdale Council
