TRAFFIC CHAOS HITS HEYWOOD AGAIN!
With a combination of utility works, motorway works, and re-surfacing in neighbouring Bury, parts of Heywood are consistently grinding to a halt in peak hours of the day. This makes life very difficult for local people trying to get to work, school, appointments or shops.
Tom Shaw has called for a more joined-up approach from local and regional agencies: "Obviously there are times when work needs to be done that may need traffic control, but these works are frequently scheduled all at once, with long breaks for no apparent reason. Traffic to Bury should not be backed up to Darnhill and the Summit, even in rush hour.
“Liberal Democrats have called for local Councils, the Highways Agency and utility companies to always work together to time these disruptions so they cause as little impact for residents as possible. This is a matter that I will continue to campaign on."
