Milnrow Memorial Park celebrates two awards

Friends of Milnrow Memorial Park have two reasons to celebrate this year. Once again, the park has been gained the Green Flag Award - the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK. Covering eight key criteria including conservation, cleanliness and sustainability, the park can look forward to another 12 months of holding this well-deserved achievement.

Following the success of Milnrow Skatepark - which raised over £100,000 for local young people - the Veolia Trust has decided to award a further £1,000 to the park for being the overall UK winner of the "Great Times" award.

"This is great news for the park" said Liberal Democrat candidate Irene Davidson. "We have to spend the money on improving park furniture later in the year."
