The Roch, Beale and Spodden - are treated like open sewers. In the last 12 moths there have been over 3,000 sewer outflows into these rivers and their tributaries. It is killing our biodiversity.

At the same time, dividends and executive salaries at United Utilities have been paid for by massive rises in water bills for householders.

Andy Kelly says that "The Liberal Democrats would hold United Utilities accountable and force them to stop the sewage overflows and clean up our rivers."

It isn't just our rivers though, air quality accross Rochdale is poor.

Andy Kelly added that "We would put air quality monitors outside all local schools to ensure that the air our young people breathe is not harming their health, development, and education."
